DC Comics News - Matthew Lloyd

This is another great issue in the Rebirth era of Action Comics. All the Superman titles are strong right now and it's a great time to be reading Superman comics. If you're not already, this is an issue that is easy to jump in to. All the exposition is there to catch the reader up easily. Jump in! You'll be glad you did. Read Full Review

It's a shame the battle with Doomsday made the first arc of this new Action Comics drag on for so long, because now that it's behind us this has become a very intriguing book. Read Full Review

Supergirl Comic Box Commentary - Anj

There remains a lot to love about this book. This two-parter, scratching the surface of the Clark mystery, was great break from the Doomsday plot. There is a ton to love here, from the art to the clues to the secret tunnels. Kudos to Jurgens and Zircher for really making this a character driven but gripping read. Amazing what a little #Rebirth can do! Read Full Review

    AIPT - Matthew J. Theriault

DC is currently fetishizing the early '90s, the very era in which Superman spilled his secret to Lois, but an essential component of the Superman mythos has arguably been missing since precisely that moment. As much as I'm enjoying Jurgens playing with the mythology in a truly novel manner by having Clark and Superman actually be the distinct individuals for a while, I can't help but long for a return to form. After all, another of Superman's dual identities seem to me to have been split recently as well; but to that status quo there's even less hope of return. Read Full Review

Veteran writer Dan Jurgens has been playing the long game with the pre-Flashpoint Superman since the earlier iterations of Clark Kent and Lois Lane returned to the mainstream DC Universe continuity following Convergence. What answers did Jurgens and artist Patch Zircher have in store for this issue? Read Full Review

    All-Comic - Jeremy Matcho

Action Comics has been one of the best books put out by DC during its Rebirth iniative. Dan Jurgens has been writing a very interesting story, and even though this was a slower issue, it was still very intriguing. The pencils and colors for this issue just flat-out rock. This is not only a book for people who love Superman, its a book for people who love good stories. Read Full Review

    Weird Science - Eric Shea

The mysteries just keep coming in this series and while this might piss off some......... you know, since we're not dealing with the ones we already have, I found that the character interactions are what really made this story worth reading and why I'm not pulling my hair out about nothing being explained yet.  With that, I really loved the art in this book and kind of look forward to seeing more of Clark Kent in the role he's currently playing. While the story might feel a bit stale, there is enough life in these pages to keep me coming back and checking out what this creative team has in store for the last son of Krypton. Let's just hope that something new lies in wait"which judging by the last panel of the book, it looks like something big is on the horizon. Read Full Review

This wasn't the most action packed installment of Action Comics, but it did advance a significant subplot. With the tease of the next big threat to Superman, this cool-down story was definitely appreciated. Read Full Review

    Flickering Myth - Tony Black

    Oct 05, 2016

Patch Zirchler's artwork here is the best in a while for Action Comics, with an excellent final few pages written to reflect Clark's Daily Planet article after his summit with Superman, which serves to get into the psychology of numerous characters before leading into a curious cliffhanger filled with portent. Though not the most explosive issue, it's an important one for putting plot pieces in play. Read Full Review

    The GCRN - Daniel Clark

After a first arc that was heavy on the action and asked a lot of questions things needed to slow down. These last two issues have let us catch our breath without slowing the story progression. Many threads are being woven and so far the plotline has not gotten too convoluted. With some of the background mysteries now coming to the forefront I have some concern major confusion is on its way. Read Full Review

I really hope that we haven’t seen the best from Action Comics, and that the story is going to pick back up soon. Honestly the only reason to read this issue is so you aren’t lost if any of the next story arcs reference back to this one. But then again this arc is not important enough to really matter later on. Dan Jurgens knows his Superman. This is a book full of 90s nostalgia and mirrors some of the elements of arguably some of Superman's most exciting and intriguing years. New fans will find plenty to enjoy as well. Jurgens cleverly answers the question of who this new Clark is, yet deepens the mystery even further. It is quite obvious that by answering the question of where this Clark and Doom came from the story would be over, so I cannot blame Jurgens at this point. He has earned my trust and I can't wait to see him hopefully stick the landing. I honestly can't wait to see where this goes. A word on the art, it is simply superb.

This is the best action comics book so far. We finally get to learn a bit more about this powerless Clark Kent and he and Superman finally spend some time together and clear up some of the mysteries that have been plaguing this title for too long. Kent and Superman don't understand why the other exists and don't trust each other. Kent's article at the end of the book is very solid as well. Classic Superman.

So a major mystery has been revealed... To be a further mystery. Something about this book makes me very forgiving about its glacial pacing and I am still enjoying it eight issues in. I do wish we had a little more Super-Lex.

I am enjoying the mystery behind Clark Kent more than I thought I would. While I am not a huge fan of jumping from only fighting to only dialogue issues, the ending of this one made it worth it. Here is to hoping a particular someone is revealed soon.

finally a very enjoyable issue in this series. . . . . . . probably one of the best so far since it's started. . . . . . . . . i had to lower my score a bit since this issue STILL DID NOT answer ANY of the questions that it has raised about this "New Clark Kent"!!!!! . . . . . . . nor did it REALLY explain his relationship to the New52 Superman!!!! . . . . . i've read the entire run of (New52) Superman as well as the entire (New52) Action Comics!!! and i can tell you that this explanation is BALONEY!!!!!! . . . . . . . . there's ABSOLUTELY NO WAY this "New" Clark's story is actually true!!!! (unless the New52 Superman's history is being retconned?) . . . . . . . i did like Jurgens few pokes at the New52 Superman's expense and raising up more

Who is Clark Kent? It's the biggest question of the series. I was waiting for the answer and I didn't get it. Without giving any spoiler, the revelation is rather disappointing. Nevertheless, once the question is (somewhat) answered, we get a satisfying conclusion.
