You can't go wrong with the Wonder Woman 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular. It's wonderful in every way. It's an example of comics being fun and providing sheer unadulterated joy on every page. Wonder Woman is the iconic female super-hero, and she will always be important. Even if you don't necessarily like her or her stories, one should at least understand her significance and respect that. Diana easily has another 80 years in her, but this issue is a beautiful celebration of her first 80 years. Need another 6/5 rating for this issue. Read Full Review

The composition of the 100-page celebration has been carefully thought out. The first two stories establish new directions for ongoing titles. At the same time, the rest of the book moves through Wonder Womans history in chronological order from the Golden Age to the Silver Age to the Copper Age and beyond. Not every story is totally brilliant, but the anthology works remarkably well as a whole, giving the reader a somewhat breathtaking look at the history of one of comics greatest heroes. Wonder Woman 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular is a very good celebration of the enduring legacy of one of DC Comics most iconic characters. There are a few stories that are a miss but largely the collection of stories told were fun in their own way. The only other 80th Anniversary special I read the GL one and I'd say that was stronger because the different characters meant you got more variety but this wasn't bad. Just making a comparison. "In Memoriam" - Pretty good, nice Steve and Etta story. It remains a waste how little WW stuff was actually used in Death Metal but nice to Cloonan and Conrad making some use out of the post-stuff. "Dreamers" - More of a prologue for the upcoming Nubia mini but I've been liking Ganucheau's art on this YD series so it wasn't bad. "Fresh Catch" - Amusing, though I imagine those more into GA Wonder Woman than me will get more of a kick out of it. "Dear Diana" - Liked this quite a bit. Hal Jordan's my other favorite DC character next to Dian a, so I like having a good interaction between them that isn't from the New 52 JL book. "Dated - Gorgeous art, I've never seen much of Shaner's interior stuff but out of the ballpark stuff here. Writing wise for King, it's not terrible like his issues involving Wonder Woman in his Batman run where but I can't say he's dug himself out of the hole he put himself in by doing a "dating Superman" plotline. "Better Angels" - Good callback to the George Perez/Messnar-Loebs era of Wonder Woman from the 80s/90s. Though Cheetah's characterization doesn't really lineup. "Saturn Rising" - Probably my favorite of the bunch, really makes me wish Orlando got more of an extended run on Wonder Woman than he was allowed. Like seeing Artemis' time as Wonder Woman get brought up. "Immortal Mysteries" - I'm not a fan of the New 52 era of Wonder Woman for the most part but this was decent throwback to the era. Much better story than Phillips' previous Wonder Woman stories. "Low Orbit" - Not bad though I also wouldn't really say anything special. This is a very oft-repeated plot you see for characters like Superman or Wonder Woman. Other random minutia: No Batman or Bat-characters outside of one panel (Good), Max Lord was mentioned (Bad) Injustice Wonder Woman in the multiverse poster in a book about celebrating Wonder Woman (Ugly). more

I enjoyed it. It's so weird how Steve Orlando and tom King could actually write some good stories, but their other stories are a hit or miss.

I did in May. I'm not inclined to take the booster, though. I meant to, even though after the second shot I had some pretty nasty side effects. But I don't agree with the green certificate thing limiting people's movements and the way states all over the globe are forcing people's hands through this measure. I think people should take the vaccine willingly and not forcingly by forcing them out of social places. This is just plain wrong.

I said the way to maximize freedom is to mandate vaccinations. Here's how that breaks down: If we continue down the route of letting people choose to get the vaccine, a sizeable enough portion of the population won't get it due to mostly political and conspiratorial reasons. This means that the virus will continue to mutate, becoming more spreadable and more deadly, and eventually it will render the vaccinations useless.

While this is happening, we are constantly living under the threat of a virus that we cannot protect ourselves from without the cooperation of these same anti-vaxxers who also won't socially distance and mask themselves. By not being vaccinated, and not being safe, those who wish not to catch the virus and get sick, and have lifelong ailments or even die, have to limit our activities. This limits our freedoms across the board. It also limits society's ability to continue functioning.

Our economy can't function in a COVID ruled world. We're seeing massive shortages, inflation and a labor shortage because of this very thing. Simply put, by allowing the whims of the unvaccinated to control our destiny as a society, we are destroying the freedoms of everyone. One person's freedoms end where another person's freedoms begin. This is how we decide when to limit freedoms, legally. Such as with not allowing murder or rape, or theft. This is no different than that.

You could make a case for vaccine mandates being authoritarian, although that is truly up for debate and hinges mostly on how you quantify the give and take of personal freedom on a large scale. Fascism, this isn't. Fascism carries a large weight of conditions that go beyond authoritarian action.

Other than Stephanie Phillips' story, which is good, most are ranging from mediocre to bad with Willow Wilson's and Jordie Bellaire's being as bad as usual, as in very bad.

This had some ups and downs, but I really don't know why I still bother with these 80th anniversary anthologies. They're never so good that they're worth their insane prices, and they never really get me hyped on the character they're centered around. They must sell because DC's made like 80 of them.
