Once & Future #28 vocalizes a core theme of the book, in which stories are consistent but people are not, and proves it by delivering yet another banger of an issue. Everything from Gillens script, to Moras pencils, Bonvillains colors, and Dukeshires letters, remain excellent by playing off whats been established in the series while still introducing new elements. Everything that happens in this issue feels inevitable, but still comes as a surprise thanks to the excellent meta-framework of the book. Combined with Moras stunning designs and Bonvillains almost transcendent coloring, in both the story and the breakaway flashback, the book proves just how consistent a story can be. Read Full Review

‘Once and Future' #28 by Kieron Gillen, Dan Mora, Tamra Bonvillain and Ed Dukeshire gives Mary a leading role as she takes control of her own narrative while making use of a previous identity to bring about the endgame of this enthralling fantasy/horror series. What starts off as a quiet, ethereal scene on the banks of a misty, magical lake ends in drama and shocking bloodshed. and more besides. Read Full Review

The release of Lear also goes to plan, more or less, so you might say things are finally looking up for our heroes. Well… until the return of the Green Knight who has a promised blow to return. The issue ends quite brutally for one of our trio (although is there perhaps some trick at play?) as events continue to build to issue #30. Read Full Review
