A strong, talented creative team has been brought together to craft three brilliant Buffy stories. Where All Paths Lead is important for the role it plays in building up the established mythology of the series, the second story has a great twist and a unique way of looking at slayers, while the third story is full of little nods for seasoned scoobies and is generally a fun story. All in all, if you're a Buffy fan, then Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Every Generation #1 is a must-read. These are the times where new is everything. This book right here offers you a satisfying amount of new content to sink your teeth into. Studios' new one-shot Buffy: Every Generation puts Buffy in the spotlight once more, but it also takes a minute to feature two previous slayers, and it's in those stories where this volume truly shines. Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Every Generation #1is a great one-shot. While each story is powerful, the last two entries overshadow Buffy's story. This doesn't mean that it is bad, she handles a personification of grief and guilt in a great way. That said, the final two add so much lore and weight to the Buffyverse that it left me wanting more of their stories over Buffy's and ultimately left me anxiously waiting until the next origins one-shot. Verse, that ranges in quality, but the highlights are fantastic, and the low points are still decent, if not unnecessary for this issue. Fans of the current canon will definitely want to pick this up, but for those who can't let go of the original timeline (like me) the latter 2/3's of this issue will appeal to everyone. The first story here is pretty bad in terms of writing and presentation. None of it really made sense and it just felt like some generic action but without any good artwork to make the action appealing. The other two stories are pretty great overall which helps make up for it though. Read Full Review

There's certainly a market for Buffyverse stories like this with centuries of Slayers to explore along with various stories involving Buffy and her contemporaries as well. While I found the subject matter of “The Sisters of Angelus” the most interesting, nothing in the comic “changed the way I look at Buffy and everything about her world” as the publisher promised. I don't know that there is much here other than for die-hard Buffy fans interested in side stories like these. Read Full Review

Anthologies are hard and often even good writers fail to do something meaningful with their pages. This was not bad, though. The first story by Nilah Magruder, who I only know from that most recent Marvel Rising miniseries (which was not good), gives us a glimpse of that other Buffy from the Hellmouth event. While I'm not sure it's important and, as I said in previous reviews, the idea of a multiverse isn't a concept I think works well with Buffy, the story was okay. I didn't love it but it wasn't offensive. The art could've been a lot better. The second story from Morgan Beem and Lauren Garcia was probably my favorite. It was very different, but it worked. And the art was fantastic. The third story from Caitlin Yarsky was a little rough in the beginning, but the idea of an asylum run by vampiric nuns at the behest of Angelus is just too cool. I really liked that concept a lot. And the art was great. more
