This is another solid issue of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Its also yet another issue made stronger by the absence of its lead character, which has been a constant for both this series and its sister series, Angel since the Hellmouth crossover (which this issue is nominally part of) began. I don't think I could ever love this book more for what this creative team is currently doing with the series. This is called Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but no one ever said the rest of the characters in Buffy's orbit couldn't stand out in this capacity. Familiar characters matter, new characters get more depth, and they are all offered new situations they never would have faced in the show. This is how you do a tie-in for a crossover event. Another good issue in a consistently strong run, focusing on characters that have so far been a little neglected it is sure to be a fan pleaser. Overall, Bellaire delivers the strongest narrative since the start of the Hellmouth crossover event, as she uses Buffy's absence to her strength. Read Full Review

What stands out most in this issue is how insufferable Giles is, a far cry from his composed, paternal television counterpart. It's another example of the series jumping into the deep end. Read Full Review

Buffy continues to be lost without its title character, choosing instead to focus on tertiary characters to flesh out any variety of subplots. Maybe these issues will look better in hindsight once "Hellmouth" is complete, but for now, they're treading water and in search of deeper meaning... or relevance. Read Full Review

A solid issue. I really have no idea where any of this is going, and that's pretty refreshing with how many comics I read, and how long I've been reading them.
