Hellboy in Hell: Nothing But Blood #1 |

This issue moved fast, and I think it could have benefited from having one or two more pages of content. I am sure they will wrap things up well in issue two, but sometimes leaving so much meat on the bones still leaves you hungry, and that is not a good thing all the time. I don’t need to be full, but I would like to be content. Maybe not one piece of fish but two will get the job done. I will check out the next issue because I want to know why Hellboy is so clueless and what the deal is with the young lady who seems to be an enemy, but I don’t think that is the play they are going with personally.

Young Hellboy: Thrilling Sky Adventures #3

The penultimate issue breezes by, and as the reader, I feel the danger almost immediately when we go to the island after the Hell Boy recap (Which I genuinely appreciate). I can look at the doctor and tell he is off; I know Smitty is screwed, and Santiago will need backup as soon as possible. The glimmer of hope is that Ghost Leopard and the Devil's Swarm are on the island as well, who I feel will play a crucial role in the final part of this story. I have always loved a good penultimate episode or issue, and for me this delivers. I would highly recommend picking this issue up, as I will be picking up the first two issues and going all the way with this story.

Young Hellboy: Thrilling Sky Adventures #4

Alright, so, something that was really obvious from this issue was that it was being told from the perspective of a kid. With all the “Gosh”, “Darns”, etc. Not a knock, just extremely noticeable. There wasn’t any action; the suspense was all in the final plane ride, if you can call it that. This issue felt like it was meant to be read by all ages and to wrap up as quickly as possible. As far as the story goes, it is fine. If you are a Hellboy fan, I think it is a nice addition to the catalog, but nothing that, if you miss it, you will regret.

One of the last pages, when the three are on a boat leaving the island and the sun is coming up, the colors work perfectly. As you see the sun coming up and Wintergreen talking about retirement feels like a sign from the heavens that Adeline chooses to ignore. Other than that, this is a strong issue, and if you have been reading this run, I would continue because so many chess pieces are still on the board and it looks like it will have a fun ending.

Ultimately, this issue moves fast but has no consequence to the story and is very much a cool-down issue. Good thing the two features shine and pick things up where the story drops. But if you are just jumping into this story, this is not a great introduction to it. I would suggest starting from issue one, but if you like art less than story, this is the book for you.

Bishop #4

Overall, this issue moved fast! I wanted more out of the fight scene at the end, though. It felt very flat to me. One shot and this guy is just done. But that was not the endgame here. The more important play was that Bishop is causing an incursion which he should know better if we are being honest. But also, he is wanted back in his own time. Not just because of the incursion apparently but because he is needed for another mission. What is that mission? We shall soon find out.

Bishop #5

Overall, as a story, I could not connect with the end because it feels like Bishop is right back where he started. But also, I feel we as the reader are in the same position as well and I don’t like that feeling. I would like to see progress from these great characters and I left this final issue thinking Bishop and Shard were worse off.

In conclusion, this story is a strong addition to the Dark Horse catalog, and I would highly recommend it. Like I said, no spoilers; you should really check it out for yourselves and support these talents because they really did great work on this issue.

Black Cat #14
September 9, 2026

This is a very strong transitional issue as we get Black Cat interacting with other members of the Marvel universe she ordinarily wouldn't, all while staying true to her character and snarky attitude. The conversation with her and the AI was a highlight, and we never forget; even with all of the comedy in this issue, it never takes away the fact that the world hangs in the balance. This is a high-stakes mission, and Black Cat handles it the only way she knows how: with luck and nine lives.

Black Cat #15

This story does not have many layers; to be honest, it can be seen as filler, but I think the end goal is to have Felicia touch every part of the Marvel universe before the big reveal of whatever the main point of this story is. Either way, I am invested, and I think these wonderful writers do a great job of showing us this woman from the different parts of her soul.

In conclusion, this is a strong title that needs some more love from all of us because of the multiple layers and multiple stories they are telling. The art is telling a beautiful disaster of a story along with the script that makes you want to know what is next for each character. I would strongly suggest going to your local comic book shop and picking this up.

Daredevil #7

As I said, this issue is pedal to the metal and ends abruptly, and I am not saying that is a bad thing. The issue uses the metaphor well to show the many threats and the uncertainty of what Elektra may or may not do with whatever is in this book. Matt is no stranger to playing the long game, so I cannot wait to see how this plays out. As far as everything else, the artwork is gorgeous, and the paneling is perfect, going from the hectic car chases to the the comedic timing of the tracksuit mafia, who are just so useless but think they are the real threat; it's great. Cannot wait to read issue eight!

I am really into this series, and this is part one of this arc. This new threat feels like a distraction from what is to come next. Because the elephant not in the room is Elektra and because Matt made the choice to not follow her who knows what she will do with Kingpin's ledger and also we never get the answer why did Matt not follow her? I have faith that those answers are soon to come.

Overall, this is a strong issue that helps us know where Ninjara and Slash are during these events. I know this is a one-shot, but I am left wanting to know where Slash and Ninjara go from here. This fight is not over, and it looks like they are ready to help in this battle.

This issue is strong. We have a ton of answers coming out of it. You may not like the answers, but I do think the creators are not going in the typical direction with this story. I am already seeing things that escape the normal tropes, and it looks like they are going to explore their own path.
