Action Comics 23.3 is a step in the right direction for Lex Luthor. Soule handles the threatening aspects of the character so well; it makes you forget hes going to serves as the de facto hero of Forever Evil. If hes the hero, what does that mean for the rest of the world? No matter how bad he is, more Lex in the comics world is never a bad thing. And thats something Luthor himself is sure to agree with.

Amazing X-Men is just short of its name. Im sure if you are any kind of X-fan, its already in your pull, but if not, its surely worth checking out. With its humor and action it seems like the kind of story comics were meant to tell.

Johns has struck gold again, and this time it was Atlantean. Aquaman #25 is a fair sendoff to a character that Johns breathed life back into. I cant help to have expected a bit more, especially from the scope of the story that was being told. It is a run that will be remembered fondly, and be used to show the deniers that Aquman does more than just talk to fish. The guy is a king! A warrior! Aquaman is worthy of more epic stories. Johns opened the door, and now we have to step through. All hail the king!

If you enjoyed the Shazam backups, do get Justice League of America 7.4/Black Adam. Gates and Johns expand the mythos of Black Adam, taking him past his previous role and setting him up for some things coming up during Forever Evil. In Johns hands, more Black Adam isnt a bad thing.

Jim Lees art is fair to good this issue, but lacks the polish of the last issues. It really shines excels on one page layouts when there is less attention to detail and more on the action. With two powerhouse characters like Superman and Wraith, there tends to be stiffness, but Lee manages to make things a little more kinetic, especially with a lot of standing around.
