The main question for fans of Ennis would be how does this measure up to his best work? Does it hit the heights of Preacher? The answer is no, however, this does in no way mean this is not worth a read. In fact the comic serves its purpose quite well and that purpose is entertainment. This may not be Ennis at his most thought provoking but its Ennis having fun with genre material. Genre material which in Ennis hands never feels cliched or outdated.

Flash 24 may not tread new ground, or add to The Flash mythos in any meaningful way. None the less, Flash 24 is a fun and diverting read. Providing some development between the characters and a good old-fashioned hero V villain showdown.

Although this issue is not a masterpiece or a classic but there is very little to hate. The exposition can be a bit clunky at times but is industry standard for the comic book medium. However, this be deal breakfor what is a well-drawn and well told story.

A disappointing TwistThe end is just too predictable. It's the big reveal that is supposed to make our jaws hit the flaw. If anything the most the final reveal could get is a meh. Flash 23 sets us up for what could be a good story. Although it is nowhere near the brilliance of The Button. The big reveal for the next issue promises a good old-fashioned hero and villain clash. However, most readers will likely have predicted it which dims the impact of the final splash page. I feel like a parent the way I'm going on about this ending. I'm not angry, just disappointed.
