OPERATION: RESCUE ARMOR! Hisako has been missing, but Nico's undercover sleuthing finally tracks her down! But the Church of the Children of the Atom aren't going to give up Armor without a fight... What dangers await our X-Men in the Astral Plane?
Ultimate X-Men #17 is a wild ride that lays the groundwork for thrills and that sweet J-Horror goodness. As I've mentioned before, Davisson and Momoko have a great thing going here, and this remains one of the strongest Marvel ongoings the company has presently. I can't wait for more. Read Full Review
Alright its very silly and the pacing is spastic but it has some pretty awesome moments, the team finally coming together for an organized mission (cyclops wya), dark armor is soooo cool, some great powers being put on display, the reveal at the end, and of course as always the phenomenal watercolor style.
Still better than the other X books.
Okay, so, like, how does Futaba's accent work? First and foremost, I believe she's meant to be akin to Rogue in this universe, but with a Japanese character, considering the book's setting. With that setting in mind, I've been of the belief that this book is translated to us in English, meaning that the "actual" dialogue would be in Japanese. That said, Futaba is written with an American Southern accent, which...doesn't really exist within Japan (as far as I know)? So, how does this character actually sound? Or am I just overthinking a comic book right now?

Most enjoyable issue of this series in a long time. The page where the X-Men are in a car is just perfect. But overall this issue is good because the plot moves forward and there's action for once.
