Feel-good X-Men comic of the year? I wouldn't go that far, what with the whole Earth-will-soon-be-uninhabitable-for-mutants scenario. Extraordinary X-Men has been very good lately. There could be any number of reasons why, but it seems like Lemire is thriving with these smaller, self-contained stories. The art has also gotten better as Ibanez has gotten more comfortable with the characters. Its a shame the title will be ending as it starts to heat up. Read Full Review

Instead of ruining the flow of this title, the Inhumans Vs. X-Men crossover has enabled Lemire to bring a brewing subplot to the forefront. A full issue focusing on Forges internal struggles and feeling of neglect isnt the most exciting read but every now and then, its important to take a step back and have these kinds of stories to remind readers of these beloved characters humanity. Like Forge himself, its not flashy but its essential nonetheless. Read Full Review

Extraordinary X-Men # 18 is an Inhumans vs. X-Men tie-in that appears to take place shortly before the third issue. And while it doesn't advance that storyline, it does throw the spotlight on Forge, a character who has been underutilized for a long time. Read Full Review

Forge gets a gentle letdown from Storm and a pep talk from Old Man Logan. This series has burned a lot of panels discussing how under-appreciated Forge is; the message ends up decidedly mixed. Logan's contribution owes a lot (i.e. way too much) to Fury Road in its writing and especially its Andrea Sorrentino art. In terms of the bigger IvX plot, this issue does let us know that Forge's responsibility is to blow up the last Terrigen cloud. Good luck with that!
