Part 3 of ''Outer Dark.'' The true owners of the Earth have returned; and they don't like how the planet has grown up. They are especially not fond of the five-billion strong infestation of life on its landmasses, and this oxygen stuff in the atmosphere. Now only the Authority stands between humanity and an enemy who doesn't want to rule the world or use the world--it just wants to wipe us off it and start over.
