  Ok, so what about the overall story? You know, the one about people being brutally murdered? So that's going places with the way this issue ends! There's a great cliffhanger at the end, and the last few pages really move that plot forwards. But at this point, the real plot that matters is the mythology behind the town, and all the crazy supernatural stuff that's going on behind the scenes. This comic is dark, scary, well written, and well drawn. WHAT MORE DO YOU PEOPLE WANT?! Caitlin Kittredge and Inaki Miranda put together one of the best issues of an already stellar series, so chew on that for a little bit. And then go buy this book, because it's just so good.   This latest issue of Coffin Hill is yet another powerful work of sequential art from the fine folks over at Vertigo Comics. Kittridge's skills as a storyteller (mostly known for her dark urban fantasy novels, she cites Raymond Chandler, H.P. Lovecraft, and Neil Gaiman as her biggest influences) and Miranda's slick, gorgeous artwork, as well as more spectacular cover art from cover artist extraordinaire Dave 'The Reverend' Johnson, come together to do exactly what they have done in the previous four issues " make Coffin Hill #5 an extremely fun read from start to finish.   Geeked Out Nation - CJ Yudelson

  Coming off of a really good last issue Coffin Hill does it again with another strong outing this month. The creative team uses the cris-crossing relationships between our cast of characters to build even more drama and adds the best action we have seen from the series thus far. The result is a very balanced and well paced comic that entertains from start to finish. I'm looking forward to next months conclusion of the first story arc. Read Full Review

  In short, "Coffin Hill" is easy to like but tough to invest in. It can skate by on its laurels -- the concept, the atmosphere, the "wow" moments -- for a few more issues, but it's going to need to develop its mythology and its protagonists better if it wants to stick around for the long-term.   Coffin Hill #5 falls flat. It feels like a wrap up issue that leaves more questions unanswered than before. The series has had its ups and downs, but this month's issue is plain boring. Being that this is the penultimate issue of the first arc will make the reader worried about how the loose ends will tie together in a single issue than the actual conclusion itself. Read Full Review
