American Vampire: Survival of the Fittest #5

At the end of this issue, after the loose ends are seemingly cleaned up, we're left wanting more, just like Snyder planned the whole way along. That, my friends, makes this the perfect book. The past five months have provided a very enjoyable double dose of "American Vampire." There's been talk of this being a semi-regular occurrence, and after completing this series, I would certainly be among the first to open up my wallet to buy the next one. Read Full Review

Rousing conclusion to a great miniseries. It tells a very engaging story and also creates a lot of new material to play with. My only regret is seeing Sean Murphy leave the AV universe. Read Full Review

The conclusion to American Vampire: Survival of the Fittest is a (ahem) fitting end to this series. Ever since Scott Snyder and Sean Murphy started this mini that spotlighted the Vassals of the Morning Star, I've been hooked. It was also a pleasure to revisit the characters of Felicia Book and Cash McCogan, both of whom got their much deserved time in the spotlight over the course of this mini-series. Now I can't wait to see how the end of this series comes into play with American Vampire proper down the line. I truly hope it's sooner rather than later, as I want to see what happens next right away. Read Full Review

American Vampire is an exceptional universe. Each comic adds more and more layers to the larger tapestry. Snyder has set up a title where going back and re-reading previous issues will reveal more information than it seemed upon the first read. When you consider I have never liked any comic book or novel variation of vampires and this title has me hooked I would say that means that this title has a chance at appealing to everyone. Our two American spies/adventures/vampire hunters are captured and in dire straits. Their scientist amigo is on the loose, but the elder vampires he so prized have yet to come back to life. Earlier points in this story revealed eerie details like the ancient Egyptian statue that bled when exposed to light (for it was no statue at all, but instead a living, dormant, giant vampire).
