Shadowman #5

SHADOWMAN is so good that it comes as no surprise a screenplay is being created for this franchise. I -- a guy who doesn't usually like fantasy or magic -- find myself fully engrossed with this story in every issue. Justin Jordan and Patrick Zircher still deliver the same high quality writing that has also been a hallmark of this young series. The legacy of Shadowman is as compelling as ever, and it'll make you anxious for the next issue. The best bit comes in the beginning, which features a scene that plays out like a finely crafted action movie. It's stuff like this that should give Shadowman a well-deserved spot on your pull list. It's got super powers that are kind of dark and twisted, and diners, and weird bad guys with guns, and a chick who can talk to ghost through things they owned while alive. If that doesn't sound interesting to you then why the hell are you reading comic books? Read Full Review

There is an evil afoot in this book and each of the disparate storylines seem to be pointed towards a confrontation between Shadowman and Master Darque. Based solely on this issue, that battle seems like it may end up being pretty awesome. Read Full Review

"Shadowman" #5 ends on a mysterious cliffhanger that introduces a new player. One of the virtues of "Shadowman" is its quick and deft development of its mythology and cast, and I hope that the plotting in future issues will rely less on stale plot elements while continuing to maintain the strong pacing. Not to mention the art has also remained seriously badass from the first panel of the first issue and this is no exception, guest artist Roberto Delatorre definitely makes his splash in this issue handling the Deadside scenes, adding his own personal deliciously dark touch to the book without breaking up the flow visually or breaking away from the authentic feel the art of previous issues featured. All in all it’s a damn good read with plenty of future promise for an already promising series, check it out. Read Full Review
