My overall impressions of this book are extremely positive. It is a worthy successor to the phenomenal volume one of this character's adventures. I am relieved. As I said above I loved this book, I love the direct it is going, I love the story telling and I love the art. It seems like a carefully written book, that was a pleasure to read. It should be a definite read if you find it. I am not going to start calling him Ninja-K though. He will always be Ninjak to me. Read Full Review

Word Of The Nerd - Nathanael Beasley

    Nov 23, 2017

It's been a big year for Valiant. Many of their leads have received new titles, all of which were met with near-universal critical acclaim. There are pros and cons to this approach. A #1 issue is designed to bring in new readers, but sometimes creates a jumping-off point for previous readers. If you enjoyed Matt Kindt's Ninjak, you will feel right at home here. Ninja-K is, at this writing, my favorite new comic of the year. You get every penny of the $3.99 price with an extra page count, an exciting story any Valiant fan will love, and beautiful artwork worthy of a museum. Be sure to make room on your pull list for your new favorite action comic! Read Full Review

After a quality zero issue, Ninja-K kicks things off with a bang: intrigue, action, mystery, and a presented story that offers far more depth than a single issue can convey. Gage and Giorello are really clicking here, and the addition of Ariel Olivetti makes this series a must-read. Also? British swears are so damn fun! Read Full Review

    Comic Watch - David Conine

    Jan 11, 2018

Christos Gage does the most incredible job of rebooting the origins of and background for Ninja-k, or Ninjak. Weaving an action-packed story that covers a century of espionage and betrayal, these Ninjas, this elite shadow army saving the world on plenty of occasions all the while Toms Giorello, delivers the most amazing illustrations, the action literally jumping off the page, panel by panel, the story builds to its climactic end, murder, mystery, intrigue, the most lethal assassins known to man, yet they have become compromised and the cliffhanger leaves you guessing! Geeked Out Nation - Jideobi Odunze

    Nov 15, 2017

As far as debut issues go for a new ongoing series, Ninja-K #1 knocked it out of the park as the full package. No stone was left unturned between venturing into the life of Ninjak, Colin King, or the Ninja Programme. We also know what kind of threat Ninjak faces, and the urgency to fight or survive. This new ongoing has the potential to build upon a lot in Ninjak's corner of the Valiant Universe and offers more to keep you invested in what comes next. Read Full Review

With its extra-sized page count, you definitely will be getting your money's worth with Ninja-K #1, a story that brings a sense of history and weight to the Ninjak mythos without feeling particularly self-conscious or silly. Perhaps this is due to the creative team taking this story so seriously, both in the narrative and in its gorgeous artwork. While there are a handful of rough edges and pacing issues in this first installment, Gage gets Colin King exactly where he needs him for what will likely be a no-holds-barred thriller. Multiversity Comics - Michael Mazzacane

    Nov 17, 2017

Cape comics are a never-ending battle. As one series ends, another begins. At least in the case of transitioning from "Ninjak" to "Ninja-K," the creative teams set the titular character off on a fresh new chapter and intend to go in a different direction from the previous series. Valiant is at its best when they take their characters and cast them as something other than the Superhero and mix genre. Leaning into the spy antics and institutional history of Valiant's best spy gives the book a novel quality that should be solid ground for new and returning readers. Read Full Review

    Comic Crusaders - Robert Anderegg

    Nov 17, 2017

Ninja-K #1 only suffers from one true flaw and because that is entirely my opinion, you may think this comic is spectacular. It's a real tour de force in writing and art, and despite the slight name change, Ninja-K still embodies Colin King and Ninjak. I just don't want to deal with having multiple, equally correct backstories for a character and this may be the beginning of that. (As a Nightcrawler fan, I know all about convoluted origin stories.) If this is your first time to pick up Ninjak, by all means you will have a blast reading Ninja-K. Also, if you're a longtime reader that doesn't mind the new twist, you'll think King is done justice. But if you're like me, this great comic will leave a nagging little voice in your head whispering about continuity and driving you nuts. Read Full Review

    Doom Rocket - Brendan Hodgdon

    Nov 09, 2017

The issue wraps all this up with a scene that effortlessly combines all three of the threads from the rest of the issue. Colin King's outsider status within the Ninja programme, his disconnection from the people around him, and the history of the programme itself all come together to launch us into the mystery of the series' first story arc. And after how well Gage, Giorello et al. set this story up, I'm very curious to see where it goes from here. Read Full Review

    Comic Bastards - Daniel Vlasaty

    Nov 15, 2017

Yes, I had a few things I wasn't super down with about issue #1 of Ninja-K but does that mean that it's bad and that I didn't enjoy it? I actually think that I liked it quite a bit. I had fun reading it, even if I was picking out a few things I didn't like as I was going. But it's a solid story with a huge and tumultuous history. I am sure there are things I overlooked or just completely missed that long-time fans of the character will have caught. I don't know. There's a lot to work with here and I'm actually pretty excited to see where it goes. I think I'm also going to take some time to dig into other Ninjak stories. And probably other Valiant titles too.
