  Overall there were good ideas here, but I think the foundations of the book were edited out, which make the ending ineffectual. The real issue, is the short story form. Twilight zone used economic storytelling to set up the strange world and infuse tension and resolution. However, this book is trying to tell a longer story in shorter time. It initially has the pacing of a horror movie which sets up the domestic bliss, introduces grades of horror, sets up the mina conflict, and then resolves in the end.
