His style effectively creates a realistic environment with just enough grit to remind the reader that this is a crime book. The first issue I was put off by how bright Ron Riley's color palette was. It was not garish or cheery, but also not anywhere near the typical dark coloring of a noir book. After reading this issue, the color choice makes sense. As perverse as the content of the book is, it is actually a dark comedy. The colors show that it is not pure grit and grime and crime, but rather a twisted look at morality, justice, and vengeance.
