But Why Tho? - William Tucker

    May 25, 2022

Doctor Who: Empire of the Wolf is a wonderful blend of old and new. Although these characters have been seen before, Housers exploration of them brings something fresh to all of them. There is a beautiful understanding of where these people are in their separate lives and it really changes the dynamic when they are together. There is a real warmth to the books that stem from the heartfelt dialogue and adoration all of the creators appear to have for the figures on the page. This is a special comic and so rewarding to those who loved Rose. Read Full Review

Jody Houser has such an expansive playground to work with here, and she navigates it beautifully. When the Eighth Doctor meets Rose, the scene fits right into the Who-niverse. The collection continues in a fun way. These time-traveling tales are mysterious so far and are gearing up to be quite the story! Read Full Review

    AIPT - Alexandra Iciek

    Nov 16, 2021

Doctor Who: Empire of the Wolf #1 achieves the considerably difficult job of uniting several elements of the franchise that have appeared across the past 25 years. Within the first issue, it has already begun a complicated plot and captured the distinct voices of its cast, all while looking gorgeous. In coming issues, if Houser takes a moment to indulge in the emotional components that make the Doctors' and Rose's relationship so compelling, Empire of the Wolf has the makings of a truly great Doctor Who tale. Comical Opinions - Gabriel Hernandez

    Nov 19, 2021

DOCTOR WHO: EMPIRE OF THE WOLF #1 gives every Doctor Who fan all the Easter Eggs and fan service they could possibly want in a scant first issue. The art captures the look and feel of the actors while remaining organic to the comic medium. That said, the narrative flow, much like the broken timeline, is a confusing jumble. Whether thats intentional or not remains to be seen. Read Full Review
