In the end, I cannot praise The Eighth Immortal #1 enough. It delivers something original and emotional. But the true majesty of the story is how it uses this emotion. The Eighth Immortal #1 is a pretty interesting debut comic. It's focus on drama is a a bit unexpected as well as the comic's clear manga influences. It's one I want to see where it goes and what it can deliver from it's initial groundwork here. Read Full Review

The Eighth Immortal presents an intriguing idea about a select group of beings. We're still learning the whys and hows of this, however Curipan's story is enough to get you to stick around. It will be interesting to see what kind of consequences come about as a result of her actions in this issue. This is a dysfunctional family like no other. Read Full Review

First and foremost, I TOTALLY dug the artwork and colors of this issue. The use of contrast to bring out the features of the characters is just amazing. The pacing is good as well, none of the too many characters and no development stuff that can often plague comics. It keeps you guessing and it leaves you wanting more. This of course is a good thing. Will be picking up issue #2.
