BLACK CARAVAN IMPRINT: Every great legend has a beginning and horror stories are no different. However, our tale-as it is based on a true story-begins at the very end. The legendary Blood Countess Elizabeth Bathory is dead, and gravediggers are assigned to relocate her corpse. But who was she really? Was she a monster or a victim? Here we witness Elizabeth's birth and childhood, and see the earliest moments of her life through her eyes. This includes her first encounter with death and blood that awakens the beasts that lurk in her innocent, yet twisted mind. With an introduction by Vampire: The Masquerade's Mark Rein-Hagen.

Once it clicks that this is all true, Vanity #1 is an interesting debut. Without knowing where it's going, it feels a bit slow and plodding. Knowing what happens, I want to know what's next immediately. This is a comic to dive into for historical buffs, fans of vampire stories, or those that just want a really good read and something different than a lot of what's on shelves. Read Full Review

VANITY #1 is an interesting take on one of the worlds most infamous characters. The writing infuses the subject with authenticity and an air of accuracy while maintaining plenty of drama and creepiness to hold your attention. The art supplies plenty of dramatic shadows and gloom to match the setting, but the indie style may look too rough for some tastes. This is a solid recommendation. Read Full Review
