  I can't think of one single book more fittingly titled than Atomic Robo. The book is every bit as corny as its moniker would suggest- but therein lays its subtle genius. The cheese ball zaniness, wholly intentional, gives the book an undeniable sense of charm, and is exactly what makes Atomic Robo one of, if not the very best independent book in recent memory.   Turns out Stephen Hawking doesn't like Robo and is, in fact, a bastard. Good times were had by all. There's a 2 or 3 page backup story that features <span style="font-weight: bold;">Thomas Edison's</span> men trying to assassinate Robo, the <span style="font-weight: bold;">Dr Tesla</span> creation, that was excellent as well.   So, its a pretty good issue overall, continuing a trend of fun action and revealing flashbacks. For added value, theres even a flashback backup strip in which Robo fights the ghost of Rasputin which has been conjured by Thomas Edison in an effort to sabotage his rival Tesla. Funny stuff. The main story ends with the promise of crazy action next month, so while we had a bit of a breather here, well be back to the large-scale violence soon. I for one cant wait. Read Full Review

  I recommend Red 5s Atomic Robo of Mars to any reader who likes their sequential fiction mixed in with the perspective provided by historical hindsight. This comic feels and reads like a nod to an era where comic book characters fought Nazis, terrorists and other mundane threats in addition to extraterrestrial and supernatural threats and there isnt a damned thing wrong with that.
