Jun 11, 2014Aside from the final pages, issue #2 proves a bit slower than its explosive debut, focusing more on relationships than anything else. Michael Avon Oeming gamely embraces the change in pace, using his great character work and masterful use of shadow to convey the ever changing tone and mood. Considering his relatively simplistic style, it's amazing how much his mobsters look like mobsters. A furrow here, some sunken eyes there--every scene is exactly what you'd picture when reading the spoken words, a true testament to the artists' collaboration. Add in the simple yet effective colors from Taki Soma and you get another stellar issue that would be...unwise to miss. Read Full Review

"The United States of Murder, Inc." #2 is an excellent noir-ish, alternate-reality, poli-criminal thriller that's thought-provoking and full of superb character drama and interaction. All-Comic - Dan Pennacchia
Jun 12, 2014The second chapter of Murder Inc contains a lot of exchanges. Between the scenes in the past and those between Valentine and his mother, the issue finds a way to build the characters and the story within individual conversations. Bendis proves that bullets do not need to be flying around for the story to progress. While not easy, he manages to keep this issue both informative and exciting. This is definitelypartly due to the immense talent of Oeming and Soma. The use of color and shadow produce an incredible amount of emotion on the page. Soma's ability to strike a tone and Oeming's panel work make for a fantastic combination. It may be early in the series, but there is no question that The United States of Murder Inc is a must-read series. Read Full Review
