Comic Book Resources - James Hunt
Mar 09, 2009Slight hiccups aside, the issue is generally a success, and offers a nice chance for the kind of solo X-Men story which, in my view, we don't see enough of (unless your name is Wolverine.) The only truly bad thing about the issue is the baffling application of the "Manifest Destiny" tag, which only serves to misdirect readers about the content of the book and could leave them dissatisfied by a story they weren't expecting. Comics Bulletin - David Hodum
Mar 10, 2009The departure of one of the major X-Men should have been much more introspective with greater fanfare, but instead it became a weak plot device. Sadly, I cannot recommend this book, even though Nightcrawler is one of my favorite X-Men and Marvel Heroes. Read Full Review

Mar 11, 2009The gradual deterioration of the book extends to the art as well. It starts with heavily stylized, angular work that suits the character well, and by the end switches pencillers to a bland fill-in. Everything about this issue comes up short, and even (or perhaps especially) hardcore Nightcrawler fans will be ashamed that this character was subjected to something like this. Read Full Review
