X-Men: Legacy #269

The AVENGERS VS. X-MEN tie-ins have been a mixed bag. Christos Gage and David Baldeon give us a nice detour in the main event with a focus on Rogue and Ms. Marvel. The entire AvX story is feeling like a car accident and you can't help but look. Issues like this give us more of a focus on the characters. We get to hear what Rogue thinks of everything and its that insight that provides more substance over fight after fight, even if there is a pretty cool one here. Read Full Review

The new conundrum placed before Rogue isn't overly revolutionary, but, in light of how deep this series dives inside Rogue's mind, I'm interested in seeing the AvX conflict through her eyes. I wish that Gage had found a more substantial way to induce Rogue's new mental state, and it seemed strange for her to refer to people she's known for decades as "the Phoenix Five" instead of by name. However, these are minor concerns. This book gets a green light for all X-fans and readers looking for a different angle on the AvX storyline. Read Full Review

All signs in "X-Men Legacy" #269 indicate that the Phoenix Force will again be too dangerous for the X-Men to contain. I'd like to believe that Gage has some plot twists and subversion of expectations up his sleeves. Like Rogue, I have my doubts but I must hope for the best. Read Full Review
