X-MEN GOLD #27 brings a surprising amount of character development -- not just for Kitty and Colossus but for Rachel Grey too. The mutant virus storyline feels a little recycled, but with how well Guggenheim is handling the characters, I have hope that the next few issues will be just as entertaining as this one. X-Men: Gold #27 is a solid installment to this series with a fun and well-paced story and solid artwork. The relation to the Wedding of the Century is tangential at best, but I enjoyed it and can recommend the comic. Feel free to check it out. Read Full Review

The real issue with X-Men Gold #27 is the lackluster art. Geraldo Borges' work this issue is inconsistent and messy, making the whole issue a little bit of a chore to read. Read Full Review

The X-Men slog into a swampy stew of stale X-plot leftovers: anti-mutant politician, gimmicky Sentinel, mutant biowarfare, yadda yadda yadda. Along the way, Kitty engages in a cold feet conversation with Rogue. I'm convinced Mr. Guggenheim scribbled "include two pages of cold feet" at the top of his outline months before he wrote anything else for this issue. The art is a pleasant novelty, full of brushed linework that lingers lovingly on highly expressive faces.
