The Weekly Crisis - Kirk Warren

Even without the Layla centered focus, this is the kind of stuff XFactor has been missing since Messiah Complex ended and it gives me a little more resolve to stick with the sagging XFactor title with hopes of her return in the near future. Read Full Review

X-Factor Special "" Layla Miller #01 easily gets 5 out of 5, because it is simply fantastic, nothing short of it in fact. It is proof that the problems with X-Factor are not lying in Peter David's hands, but " well, elsewhere! Make sure you pick this up, you will not regret it, 'cause it's a romping great time! While it doesn't seem that Layla will be returning to the lineup of X-Factor just yet, it's nice to know she's not forgotten about and that she's still part of the grand scheme that Peter David has in store for the team. One part "Messiah Complex" epilogue, one part What If...? tale, it's got something for almost every X-Fan and definitely the X-Factor book you should be paying attention to this week. Like the previous special focusing on Quicksilver, "X-Factor Special: Layla Miller" could very well serve as a template for how to best handle an extra one-shot for your ongoing comic. It touches in on a character that readers care about and want to see more of, but at the same time is a story that is best served by not breaking up the other stories running in the monthly title. If David has any more "X-Factor Specials" up his sleeve, I'll definitely be back for more. Read Full Review

    Comic Book Revolution - Jim

A good one-shot that was damaged by the ending. I think David needed to end the story by showing Layla's return to our time. By leaving her in the future with no idea how to return, I felt the author cheated me. Layla did find Scott and help start the Rebellion but I found the story to be incomplete due to the ending.
