Wolverine: Patch #3

WOLVERINE: PATCH #3 continues to demonstrate Larry Hama's ability to spin a marvelously detailed action yarn with a great balance of the plausible and good old fashioned comic book nonsense that pays homage to the history of the character while giving us something new yet very comfortable and familiar in terms of a story about ol' canucklehead. There's nothing special about the spycraft and machinations leading to this particular cluster to make it attractive as there's no trope that hasn't been well used in plenty of Wolverine comics, whether it's an empowered child or brutal government regimes Wolverine: Patch isn't badly constructed, but it certainly reads like something reheated. I believe this was probably my favorite issue so far. The story is moving forward in a very exciting and intriguing way! I love how it's giving nods to future events and adding depth to wolverine vol 2. I'm really looking forward to the next chapter

Plot is heating up to a showdown between all factions, Wolverine sure knows how to make his presence known. Just didn't see a point of having Jean Grey in the story, she talked and talked and did what exactly? You can just about skip that part and the outcome is the same.

The prose is less cliched this time around, but even more expository, messing up the pace. The art is decent; nothing to complain about, but also nothing to really praise. The plot is functional, but it's so simplistic that it shouldn't have so many moving parts. I get where the author is coming from with his "Russians are totally anti-Semitic" idea, but he executes it ham-handedly, like the worst sort of Cold War propaganda.
