While Wolverine and the X-Men continues to flesh out the events of AvX in positive and tangible ways, the overall direction for the series is beginning to suffer. I wish Aaron were able to combine the event tie-in material with his ongoing conflicts as elegantly as Kieron Gillen has in Uncanny X-Men. Read Full Review

Wolverine and the X-Men continues to be an enjoyable comic, but not to the standard that it was before the Avengers Vs. X-Men crossover struck. It needs an injection in the same way that Uncanny X-Men currently has, perhaps a change in story direction or a new idea to focus on. Until then, it remains decent, but a shadow of its former self. Aaron and Bachalo have delivered one of the best new series of the last year with "Wolverine and The X-Men" and Aaron has time and again proven himself to be an incredibly smart writer. Seeing them deliver such a mediocre book here despite their best efforts it's easy to conclude there's a serious and much deeper problem with this event. Aaron and Bachalo do their best and the result is one of the better "AvX" tie-in issues I've read, but it will still be a huge relief to see them get back to business as usual in this title. Of course, diehard Bachalo fans will still find a lot to like, and those jonesing for another fight comic will be pleased. (Kid Gladiator in particular gets some great moments, taking down a number of people way outside of his weight class with some of Aaron's sharpest lines.) But aside from getting essentially a visual remix of the same old Avengers-X-Men battles " and that's a big problem that I'm already jaded enough to say that " there's not much new going on for this book.
