As someone who's all time favorite superhero is Wolverine, I truly can't get enough of this story. Multiple Wolverine origins in one, while watching a notoriously known grump argue with themself is entertaining and hilarious. Especially when one of them is an actual zombie. Read Full Review

Writer Christos Gage finally has some fun with the format but it's clear that even just three issues in that this team of just Wolverines sounded better on paper than in execution. Read Full Review

The shift in this issue works really well. It takes what could be a very run of the mill story and gives it an interesting angle. Jane Howlett, while obviously not the most creative, is probably my favorite character in this miniseries.

The highlight here is certainly the art. All of it is polished and dynamic, and the softly-penciled, monotone flashbacks are a memorable high point.

Jane Howlett gets a backstory. Sadly, most of the flashback real estate is devoted to laboriously remixing Origin (2001) for her. But there are also interesting hints of Doc Savage/Indiana Jones-type adventures. I'm still hopeful that she could be a great character with better storytelling and material.

The limiting factor remains the cold prose. The words are never flawed, but never memorable. And structurally, we're stuck with the boring arrangement where the Wolverines stand around listening to several pages of exposition and then go stab something that needs stabbing.
