Overall, Wastelanders: Black Widow #1 is an outstanding entry into the Wastelanders and proves that some heroes never die. The story by DeKnight is incredible. The art by the creative is wonderful. Altogether, a story which shows why the MCU should make Yelena the next Black Widow. Read Full Review

Wastelanders: Black Widow ends the series of one-shots set in the Wastelands in the perfect way. Not only does it reveal another fantastical corner of the universe, but it shows how heroes have been bent and changed due to the harsh world they now live in. It also shows that at their core, heroes like Black Widow never give up. Read Full Review

For a comic that introduces all its characters here, that ending still had somewhat of an impact. That's commendable. Overall, like most of this series, this issue was pretty good. Nothing special, but you won't have trouble getting through it, and may even enjoy yourself.

This little character-driven adventure is a fine introduction to the Wasteland Widow. I appreciate that her identity is revealed early. Solid characterization gives her legs; I wouldn't mind seeing her in further adventures, solo or teamed up. The storytelling is a bit above average in both words and art, but this remains a middle-shelf comic, not a must-read. I'm giving the creators a lot of credit for their bleak, consistent tone, even though it's not particularly novel or daring. It fits right into the Wasteland AU's baseline of "there ain't no heroes out here" -- but this one-shot ends before pivoting to the inevitable "now lookit these heroes being all heroic."
