Venom First Host is an intriguing look into the emotional sides of Venom. Moving forward, the story has many places to go and I'm eager to see where it lands. This exploration into how the symbiote feels about its various hosts is adding more depth to the parasite we've known for years. Overall, this series is deserving of a spot on your pull list. Mike Costa expanded the story in issue two and brought compassion and a deeper level to the plot. The symbiote is an interesting creature, and it's always fascinating finding out new information about its origin, and watching how it interacts with other people. I didn't think a crying Venom would take me back, but it did. Read Full Review

Venom: First Host #2 isn’t exactly worth the price of admission. Yes, some important steps are made, but they can be summed up so quickly since the story is going exactly as you would have guessed so far anyway. If you buy this one, I don’t think you’ll regret it, but at the same time, I not going to go out of my way to recommend it to anyone unless they really, really enjoyed the first issue. But maybe Venom crying will make this issue a hot collector’s item. Read Full Review

    Weird Science - Branden Murray

The second issue of this weekly series dives into the Kree solider and his connection to the symbiote a bit further however has still has failed to hook me feeling just a bit to run of the mill in a crowded Venom market lately to standout.  The art is strong and looks good throughout but doesn't elevate this issue above average. On Comics Ground - Alec Thorn

This issue is somewhat underwhelming compared to the prior one, and is easily predictable plot-wise. Things that were good from the previous issue are still present, but the story is beginning to show its cracks. Read Full Review
