Uncanny X-Men #12

I've been in and out of the series since it was relaunched. Because of this I'm a bit confused as the exact nature of the Corporation the team is up against (or what their ultimate plans for mutants is). Better understanding this might sell Hellfire Club as allies the X-Men could use, but in the end I'm much like Psylocke questioning whether or not this is the best the X-Men can do. For fans. If there's any one problem plaguing the X-Men franchise right now, it's that the various books seem to be mostly regurgitating familiar conflicts and story beats rather than pushing the characters in new and interesting directions. This issue certainly encapsulates that dilemma. Read Full Review

Overall, Uncanny X-Men #12 continues to build it's plot and does contain a few excellent character interactions. It has yet to really find that distinguishing element that sets it apart from Marvel's other X-Books, but hopefully, it will find that hook soon. Read Full Review

Lots of head-scratching bits. What does "now the rest" mean on a splash page featuring not only mutants but some seriously anti-mutant characters? Who is the scantily-clad woman on the last page? The fight scene is nearly impossible to follow; on the page with the acid fog at the top, who is where doing what? And these new baddies are so incredibly one-dimensional, they don't even have names, or powers that can be picked up from context. Dismal.
