Apr 23, 2008So in conclusion, this issue wasn't too bad, and the story finally did progress to something really interesting, but I would have enjoyed it more if the larger portion was devoted to the Russia storyline instead of the hippy storyline. Although, the hippy story does deserve this defense: call me crazy, but seems like something that would have happened in the 90s X-Men cartoon, so it does earn a few bonus points for nostalgia. Apr 28, 2008Choi's artwork is a welcome change from the recent, grittier styles that "Uncanny X-Men" has seen, and the bright, fun colors fit the tone of the book entirely -- the idea of a city regressing to the 60s is a fairly camp concept in itself, and Choi's artwork nicely fits that tone, with masses of attention on the small details. He's also good for the grander strokes, though -- the opening sequence where Wolverine, Nightcrawler and Colossus fight some giant robots is a great piece of action-adventure, brilliantly choreographed and nicely executed. "Divided We Stand" does feel like something of a stop-gap solution, but if this is what we get as "filler", I can't wait to see how good the book's going to be in the future. Read Full Review

Apr 26, 2008So, nothing earth-shatteringly novel in either plot (you pick which is A and which is B), but well-delivered action and melodrama, beautifully illustrated, and with our heroes all in fine form. Thats good enough for me, even though I swear I thought that baby in "Messiah CompleX" was going to do more than just vanish as soon as shed arrived. Read Full Review

Apr 23, 2008Perhaps the biggest waste of time of all "Divided We Stand" tie-ins. A shame, really, considering Uncanny X-Men stood to gain the most coming out of "Messiah Complex." Unfortunately for us, it looks like we'll have to wait until issue #500 in July to really get anything worthwhile from the book. Read Full Review
