It's hard to believe it's only been eleven issues with Miles as the new Ultimate Spider-Man. Bendis is doing a great job establishing him as this universe's Spider-Man and you can't help but like Miles as a character. Bendis also ensures that these are different sorts of Spider-Man stories. The angle of Miles' shady uncle knowing his secret is fascinating. We also have an interesting development at the end of the issue. David Marquez is killing it on the art and continues to show he's earned the right to draw these stories. I continue to be amazed each month that I can enjoy this series without Peter Parker around but since Bendis has succeeded throughout the entire previous series, it's really no surprise he would continue to make this such an enjoyable series. The dialogue and character development throughout the issue are stellar, but the repetitive nature of the big action sequence hurts the momentum of the story. Miles delivers a powerful blow to Scorpion, who pops back up in surprising fashion. Believe me that by the third time, it's hardly a surprise. All that aside, the action scene is actually really cool. Most bad guys take Miles for granted for being a little kid, but Uncle Aaron sees his potential and uses it against his enemies. The begrudging nature of Miles' relationship with his uncle keeps the tension high, making the emotional punches hit harder than the real ones. Read Full Review

That said, if it's a new era for Ultimate Spider-Man, we need a new artist to envision it. I nominate David Marquez, who brings strengths from Pichelli, David LaFuente, even Bagley himself, and distills them into something extraordinary. This is a fight comic that pulls no punches. there are some story issues, like how miles decided all of a sudden that what he was doing was wrong, but it's still a good story and i'm really liking this version of spider-man and his conflict with ultimate prowler not to mention Ultimate Prowler's scumminess and ruthlessness makes him one of the better spidey villains and I really wish he would have stuck around after this arc
