Aug 26, 2026Tomb of Apocalypse #1 gives Jubilee the spotlight and uses her partnership with Wolverine to show how much she's grown. Ashley Allen understands the appeal of their dynamic while giving Jubilee plenty of agency, particularly when others question whether she's ready for the danger ahead. Apocalypse's involvement adds an intriguing wrinkle, since his goals align with the heroes' at least for now. Domenico Carbone and Fer Sifuentes-Sujo give the issue a slick, cinematic quality that works especially well once the story heads underground. The journey into the tomb takes up a little too much of the issue, but the character work, mystery, and setup make for a strong start. Read Full Review

Aug 26, 2026I'm going to be buying the entire run of it and seeing if Jubilee and Wolverine can accomplish this mission and get out of Apocalypse's ancient celestial tomb. Aug 26, 2026Tomb of Apocalypse #1 is a good example of X-Men ’97 synergy, starring two characters who have played a big role in the show. I’ve been yelling about giving Jubilee more attention for a while now and this book is giving me the Jubilee action I want. Allen was, strangely enough, both the best choice to write this book and also not the best. She brings the character stuff with Jubilee but cloaks it in what is a standard tomb-raiding story. Carbone’s art is good, but the fact that it’s so reminiscent of Pepe Larraz hurts it because it’s not on that level. This is a flawed book, but it’s still worth a read. Read Full Review

Apocalypse is not the main character, but an intriguing backdrop. Jubilee is the story’s guide, clearly showing that she has grown beyond being seen as a child sidekick. Her interactions with Apocalypse and Wolverine are excellent. The story’s main framework seems simple, but it has potential.
