This issue takes us that much closer to the hopeful fight between Pepper and Tony that these teased covers foreshadow. If Tony wasn't motivated for that, certainly what happened in this issue has put him in that position where he might cross that line to once again make sure no one gets in his way. Read Full Review

Tom Taylor and the rest of the creative team have assembled a story that is anything but predictable. Most times, we want the hero to rise, but this time his defeat is the thing we desire the most. This series has been a consistently enjoyable read so far and this issue is no exception. It's been confirmed that this series will end as Secret Wars takes over pretty much the entire Marvel line, with Issue #9 being the last issue appearing on Marvel's solicitations. I for one will be sad to see it go, as it is by far the best thing to come out of the Axis storyline. If you've been reading and enjoying Superior Iron Man so far, you will enjoy this issue. If you haven't been reading it, I definitely recommend picking it up in trade format. Read Full Review

This series could still stand to take a more even-handed approach with this newer, more ruthless Tony (one more akin to what we've been seeing in Jonathan Hickman's Avengers comics), but it's slowly getting there. Read Full Review

While I didn't expect to read a story of Tony Stark pitted against a contingency plan from Tony Stark, "Superior Iron Man" #7 is a pleasant surprise. Taylor, Cinar, Watanabe and crew have found a natural path for the continual descent of Stark's fall from grace, and it just keeps getting more complex and entertaining as it twists back upon itself. I'm not a huge fan of inverted Stark, but at least the story maintains a significant amount of unpredictability. Read Full Review

2 artist with different styles doesn't help, and it recycles the "reboot Stark's brain" plot point from a few years back. Never the less I was captivated by the mental chess match between Tony present and Tony past and Pepper - Does Ms Potts have another ace up her sleeve? I hope so. The issue says a lot about the character of Tony, and the inevitability of this path he's on (even without Axis). I also liked the little touches (Tony with mustache, the way the sleeves of the armor roll up on the arms and legs, like they did in days of old). Great stuff and I can't wait to see what happens next.
