May 28, 2025I'm enjoying this series in a loose kind of way because I like most of the characters but am frustrated by how simplistic everything is. Yet, at the same time, it doesn't feel like it's all properly grounded and coherent. Some of that comes from there being so many books in different periods of time within the High Republic era, and a lot going on in the novels as well. We're getting a small snapshot of a larger period and trying to connect it to the other snapshots I've read, and it's not making much sense. You can enjoy what's here for what it is to be sure, but it still feels very reliant on knowing more of the big picture that I'm just not getting. Read Full Review
