As Darth Vader barrels toward its conclusion, you can see the threads pulling together well enough as it's all falling into place. You know who you want to see get their comeuppance, those you want to survive, and what little twists that may come in thanks to a couple of droids. Kieron Gillen continues to just make this book seem effortless with the pacing and dialogue while Salvador Larroca really just puts together a fantastic work month after month that delights beyond words. This is a team that I hope to see back on this franchise again in the future since they click so well and bring such fun stories to life. Read Full Review

Darth Vader is also beaten in the comic's back-up story (although he is not yet aware of it). With the murderbots Triple-Zero and Beetee fulfilling Vader's command to bring Aphra back their former master, Aphra is able to retake control of her creations and plan yet another improbable escape. Some days it just doesn't pay to be an evil Sith Lord. Worth a look. Read Full Review

The triumph of Vader is inevitable, and as such, the story loses a little of its dramatic tension, particularly knowing there are only three issues to go. This is an OK issue, nothing standing out as spectacular, as Kieron Gillen grinds his way to the end of his story. Read Full Review

We might not get much narrative momentum, but this tangent offered a terrifying new character, who will likely be an important component of the rest of the arc and Vader's construction of his castle on the lava planet. Read Full Review

The Villain

Issue 22 is just another obstacle for Vader to overcome on his way to Cylo. Vader gets another chance to showcase his smarts and his ability. Doctor Aphra takes a bit of a back seat this time around but still a very good issue.
