Ienco's art is all around solid and engaging, I love the style of the flashbacks. The plot leaves off in an exciting place and I don't really know what to expect from the rest of this arc or the rest of the series. There's some potential for some cool tie-ins into what some other branches of publishing are doing; there was already a tease or two in this issue. I didn't expect this series to win me over but it absolutely has and I can't wait to see where it goes next. Read Full Review

Although there was not as much action in this instalment, there was a lot more grounding of the story and it helped you understand the character. Unlike the movies there is a chance for more nuance and shades of grey in the characters. Read Full Review

The issue in and of itself was good however the portions with the insectoids they fought seemed to distract from the overall plot. The artwork was done beautifully, especially when you saw the parallel frames with the current pair along with seeing Anakin and Padme in the past. A very interesting series so far and I'm intrigued to see this unfold more. Read Full Review

Closing unanswered questions while adding depth to Vader, it's a series that expands Marvel's positive mark on the world of Star Wars. Read Full Review

Despite the previous issue ending with a "shocking reveal," it's nice to see the book quickly move forward with its reality instead of prolonging any mystery, with Padm fans sure to appreciate that the upcoming narrative is set to honor her in spirit. Read Full Review

The Fandom Post - Chris Beveridge

The post-Empire aspect of this series is something that I'm really excited about because it gets to explore some new areas for Vader in his hunt for information about the past. That raises a lot of internal conflicts for him to resolve and that's going to chip away at the Vader persona itself, resulting in what we see in Return of the Jedi. These small moments are well-done here as more of the past hits him than he expects upon seeing Sabe and working alongside her here. Sabe's definitely a great character – I really recommend the Queen's Shadow book – and her performance here feels right in line with that and leaves me wanting more of the character's story in both novel and comic form.
