Star Wars: Age Of Resistance: Rose Tico #1

Of all the announced issues of this series, this was the one I was dreading. Rose did not endear me to her character in the film. I just did not want to read anything about her. I could not have been more wrong. This is a fantastic story giving me the depth, the heart, and motivation for this character. The visuals knocked my socks off. I would love to see all the contributors reunited to create more stories about this, now, deserving character. Recommended. Read Full Review

Tom Taylor strikes the right balance here even as I'll hold out hope for a full-length Rose novel someday to expand on this in a bigger way and delve into more of her past with her sister. Rosanas presents them and their world well and I like the attention given to the bombers as well considering their end significance for Paige. The two sisters definitely have a lot to like about them and their tale has a lot of open space to explore, but just this light overview feels like a wonderful expansion to give fans of the characters more to sink our teeth into until we can really go all out. The narrative does offer her a connection to an iconic character that The Last Jedi didn't afford, but this book just barely becomes a moderate success at elucidating on Rose Tico in a fulfilling way. Read Full Review

The bond between Paige and Rose is strengthened, making her loss in The Last Jedi a lot stronger. Also a pretty good moment for Leia in here too.

The largest positive is that it is good to get some backstory to a character that is generally considered not that memorable. And it was interesting backstory at that.
