Having enjoyed a lot of Larroca's work on other projects in the Star Wars realm, getting some time with him here to work with the classic crew, a beautiful splash page of Rebel Alliance ships, and then to touch back on the "old" crew prior to the Clone Wars just makes it extra special. Aaron has a potentially interesting arc coming up with this, though it should be noted Yoda can be a hard character to work with as a primary figure, and I'm excited to see what's next and what blending in the present we'll get to keep that storyline moving forward. There are a lot of moving pieces here but just getting to disconnect from the era of A New Hope for a while and focus on something pre-Clone Wars and pre-Anakin is pretty exciting. Read Full Review

All in all this was a really entertaining issue that I didn’t want to end. I loved Aaron’s portrayal of all the characters, new and old, and Larroca’s art was near perfect. If you haven’t been reading this series but want to give it a try this issue is a pretty good jumping on point to join in the fun. Read Full Review

The Villain

Aaron probably could've avoided the whole intro with R2 and just jumped right into the Yoda story. I found this to be very good with several of the characters from the prequel trilogy making appearances. It just that the story remains very short. The cliffhanger appears to be teasing more Yoda after this issue though. Hopefully he doesn't have to share the spotlight this time.

This issue is a pleasing turnaround from the last arc, which left me on the verge of dropping this title. I enjoyed C3PO spilling the beans on all his "exploits" in the opening pages and I found the introduction to the Yoda story amusing as well. And the art is a serious upgrade.

Contemplating dropping the title at this point unfortunately. This Yoda backstory was surprisingly lackluster to me and didn't develop the character like the Obi Wan backstories did earlier in the series.
