A MONSTERS UNLEASHED TIE-IN!
Spider-Man and Deadpool find themselves face-to-face(-to-face?) with one of the dozens of monsters smashing and stomping their way through the Marvel Universe!
Ever the stalwart hero, Spider-Man has to use his powers (and responsibilities) to fearlessly fight the freakish monsters, saving many civilians at great cost to himself!
Meanwhile, Deadpool is about as helpful as he usually is.

    Horror DNA - James Ferguson

Spider-Man / Deadpool is the kind of tie-in issue I can get behind.  It presents an entirely unique story that I doubt we'll see in the main Monsters Unleashed book.  The comic moves at a quick pace and is packed with action and a heaping helping of jokes.  There's no slow moment or boring segment.  It's just a fun comic. This is a nice story even if it wears a little thin by the end outstaying its welcome. Read Full Review

    Major Spoilers - Matthew Peterson

In short, while I'm uncertain about the timing, the execution of the story is quite good, and Deadpool especially has lots of fun dialogue (including an underwater scene where he still won't stop ratchet-jawing, leading to a word balloon that reads "Glub glub glub.") Spider-Man/Deadpool #1.MU isn't a story that sells the overarching conceit of "Crisis Mode AIEEEE", but it's well-drawn, clever and funny, and features great character interactions from both our heroes. The Monsters Unleashed one shots have not been making big waves, so I was pleasantly surprised with this one. It had a funny tale to it with some surprise guest to it. Its connection to the Monsters Unleashed event was actually minimal which might not be a bad thing. It was a well thought out tale that involved the event in a way that was fitting. Spider-Man and Deadpool's interactions made for great comedy. The bizarre tale made it engaging and the art was well done. The only reason I would not rate this highly is that it is a simple one off story with not much to be added to the series. Just a chance to have fun.

A witch spell designed to summon Deadpool's "heartmate" embarrassingly coughs up Spidey just in time to fight a giant eggplant monster in Toronto. It's another good monster fight with healthy doses of rather generic SpideyPool humor. The coven of schoolgirl witches responsible for all this is a notable standout, and the "heartmate" joke is what will rightly put this comic on the fandom radar.

Al things considered, for a pointless tie-in, it was actually quite amusing. I'm done with "Monsters Unleashed" cross-overs, but this is not at all a bad comic.
