This issue in particular adds little to the larger picture as Peter David explores the continued adventures of Miguel and Lady Spider. However, the dynamic between the two still makes this issue worth reading, as does David's focus on fleshing out May's world and her rivalry with the Six Men of Sinestry. Read Full Review

Overall, this provides to be a relatively fine side stop to the main storyline that's running through the Spider-Verse as we get to see Miguel and May work together and explore more of 1895 with what Osborn and the Sinestry Six can bring to the page. It's got a light touch to it overall and is just fun, but it's also enjoyable just watching Miguel and May work together, particularly since she's been introduced to such a larger world/worlds overall through this adventure. The robot thing has me less than interested though because it just seems shlocky, but it's also something that manages to fit in considering the sprawling nature of the arc and its ties to so many different worlds. In the end, I'm just looking forward to seeing where Miguel ends up after all is said and done and what his storyline could turn into. Read Full Review

This issue does cram too much into the 20 pages that David had to work with. The team decided that the Lady Spider universe had to be explored a bit more, losing focus for a bit on the titular character to show what Earth-803 is going through. The ending is a bit vague too; I can't tell if we'll be seeing more of Lady Spider in this universe or not. But since this is the last tie-in issue, I'm hopeful that we can get back into exploring the problems that Miguel will be having back in the 616, especially since we barely had time to explore them before "Spider-verse". The 'six men of sinistry' are similar non-entities, existing only as an entertaining diversion used to delay Miguel and May's return to the main thrust of the overarching narrative. By this count, Spider-Man 2099 #8 isn't really as wired into the events of 'Spider-Verse' as much as David's previous two issues. For all its faults however, you can't really hate on a story that features a giant Spider-Man themed robot, especially one drawn by Will Sliney. Read Full Review

Great issue. And am I the only one who thinks 2009 has some of the best cover art around? I just wonder how Spider-Verse is going to wrap up with only ASM #14 left? Guess the events are still going to be felt in each Spider title going forward. How could they not?
