Why can't every issue be like this? Fast paced, witty banter, humor, intrigue, lots of action and a cliffhanger. That's the recipe.

This is a fun and exciting issue, as Miles is in a bit over his head in Japan. The action here is excellent, and Nico Leon is killer on art...I love the two-page spread after Miles falls through the roof into the room full of Inhuman Ninjas. Tomoe is an interesting adversary for Miles. And the scene with Miles mowing through all these Ninjas as his dad talks about Bruce Lee clearing through opponents was fun. Aside from the cover, which is done in a style that is really not for me, this was a really cool issue.

Miles's sticky situation with Tomoe the Techno Golem resolves itself thanks to spider-skills, good familial advice, and the shining example of Jackie Chan. This arc wraps up very funny, very satisfying, and very visually appealing. Nico Leon does some remarkable shadow and action work in addition to excellent character portrayals. The one questionable part is the left-field reveal of Miles's secret super-spy ally; I dunno if that setup would ever pay off even if Mr. Bendis hadn't jumped ship to DC.

I'm calling it, Miles x Tomoe, she will become the "Black Cat" to his "Spider-Man".

This was a pretty fun arc in Japan. It's nice to see Miles away from all the crossover stuff for a while. Good that Ganke was not forgotten, too. Nothing too heavy, this was a nice fun story.

This was a fun ending to this Tokyo visit story. The ending leaves a lot to be explained. The art continues to impress with this series and it remains one of the more fun comics out today. Miles has grown to be pretty much my favorite hero and I love being around for the ride. Some really fun scenes in this book, especially the ones that utilize flash backs of uncle Aaron. The legacy initiative hits the title next issue and I am excited to see where we wind up

Overall this was a good issue, but something seemed to be missing. Might be the pacing during the beginning or maybe an extra panel or two could have helped. I liked the art along with the fight scene. The parallel made during the fight was really cool. And the cliffhanger is gonna make me come back for the next issue.

Lately Bendis has made me feel uncomfortable with the stories he has been telling in regards to Spider-Man. Miles seemed to admit in the Generations series that Peter is the true Spider-Man and he should remember that. In Spider-Men II there are hints that Peter is going to take the Spider-Man title away from him. While probably not the intention it felt like a white man controlling the young minority Miles and keeping him in his place. Now he has Miles drawing on inspiration of Jackie Chan to fight an Asian mob. That just seems a bit off to me and lowered my score of this issue. That said the action in this issue was great and by far the art showing it was the saving grace. The enemies introduced in the arc do seem interesting and could be
promising if they return. That is important for Miles getting a rogues gallery of his own instead of sharing one with others. The strange twist did nothing for me personally, and just felt like at this point Bendis is just throwing things at the wall and hoping they stick. There is also the strange marketing behind this issue. All the marketing materials seem to speak about the many things going on with the people in Miles life. Him being "torn apart at the seams". The cover even reflects that. None of that comes into play in this issue. The issue is only about his fight in Japan. Is there a disconnect in what is happening with Spider-Man right now? That strangeness aside, the short arc was a fun small adventure. Next issue is supposed to be the Legacy numbering that introduces a new Sinister Six. I am hoping that things get back on track. more
