Despite all the humor and warm fuzziness we feel most of the time, there is a darkness that seeps through the colorful pastels and camaraderie. What happened to Peter Parker? It may not be what we were initially led to believe. What role does Harry Osborn play in this grander scheme ? I get the feeling we may fear these answers. My Spidey-Sense is tingling here, the subtext of this visual masterpiece is creeping closer. Robbi Rodriguez and his artwork is on point as ever, painting a world for gwen and the gang that is truly singular. Crack open this book and there will be no mistaking just what rabbit hole you've fallen into. The dynamic duo that is Latour/Rodriguez is sharper than ever and I could not add this title to my pull list fast enough. Read Full Review

So, clearly, even with all this star-spangled awesomeness to draw from, Latour's doubling down on centering Gwen's story around Peter. Personally, I think it's time to move on. And I hope that there are other things that make a hero other than guilt and horror over a loved one's death (and undeath?). I think that it's time that Gwen took the spotlight in her own book on her own terms. The time for origin stories is probably over. Read Full Review

I feel as if Spider-Gwen is trying to stall for time while it figures out story points that will keep things interesting. In this issue a alternate version of Captain America and Falcon help Spider-Girl track down the Lizard. There is a little action to the title but nothing here that promises an engaging story. Latour tries to make things interesting by continuing the Spider-Gwen is a criminal aspect that was beaten to death with Spider-Man in the 90's. Also like Spider-Man is Gwen getting no respect from fellow heroes and having to prove herself. If you are starting a whole new world that allows you to change up the characters then change it up. Do something different rather than follow the same stories and sprinkle some changes. While th is comic is a quick and easy read, I can easily say this is a title you can skip. more
