While I continue to enjoy the artwork, especially the future sequence with Genis-Vell, I'm frustrated by the book otherwise because it's falling into the cliches all too easily. I mean, it's going to happen on some level because of how stories are told, but at the same time it feels like if it had more actually going into the structure of it that it wouldn't feel so obvious and predictable. And that's what's hurting it. The interesting moments are mostly involving Thanos and the Surfer talking and what we get out of the future Surfer more so than the actual story being told. Too many simply setup pieces that contextually shouldn't happen with such power players regardless of what's actually going on. Read Full Review

The art is uniformly solid. The amount of content and the pace are nicely matched, producing a smooth, easy read. There's a moment of clumsiness as the author struggles with the heroes debating their next steps, but that's balanced out by a surprisingly good Thanos scene. It's not a challenging comic, but it doesn't overstay its welcome.

You know the drill: excellent art, boring story and characters acting like dummies. The first Silver Surfer Rebirth series and the Warlock Rebirth series had solid first issues, and then all the others moved at a snail's pace and felt devoid of all life. This series is following that trend, unfortunately.
