This issue was a bit sappy, but I'm OK with that. It's also cutely romantic and powerfully heroic, too. I love that moment at the very end with Dawn and the Surfer. She is such a rich and enjoyable character. Everybody shines in this issue. Everybody is at their best, doing their best. And the Allreds draw the heck out of all of it. I don't think their style is suited for a regular Avengers title, but they're perfect for Silver Surfer and the quirky, comfy, cutesy story that Slott has been writing. This comic has so much heart it's bursting. Read Full Review

    Weird Science - Reggie Hemingway

This issue was pretty strange for a romance comic. There are no-frills aliens, garish superheroes, and Squirrel Girl is there, too. But wraps with a tearful admission and a desperate hug, which is exactly how you'd expect a romance comic to end. Where was the jealous older sister? What about the problematic suitor whose problems are overlooked by a lovestruck young lady? I think this book has a long way to go before it stands alongside classic fare like True Romance, luckily this is a better title by far on every measurable level and stands perfectly alone as an awesome Silver Surfer book. Any sappy feelings you have while reading this comic are no extra charge. Read Full Review

This is both a beautiful ending to what's come before, and an exciting new direction for the series. Read Full Review

"Silver Surfer" #4 feels like a comic that just spent an issue treading water. There's little going on here that we haven't seen already, and that's a shame. "Silver Surfer" is normally an inventive and fun comic, and -- while the Allreds' work on the issue is up to their high standards -- there's little for people who read the last issue to get excited about.
