(Cover Date: October, 1969) Summary: Fighting for eternal rest, the Flying Dutchman attempts to destroy the Silver Surfer so that Mephisto may claim his soul. The Dutchman threatens to kill a hostage unless the Surfer pledges his soul to Mephisto. After the Surfer frees the hostage with a bolt of cosmic power, the Dutchman tells Mephisto that he will no longer serve him even if it means spending an eternity in Limbo. The Surfer sheds a tear over the Dutchman's plight, which releases him from his curse.
