  SCARLET SPIDER is not another Spider-Man comic. Chris Yost and Ryan Stegman are shaping Kaine up to be a killer struggling to be a hero. He's trying to do the right thing but also hasn't had the idea of being a hero pounded into his head. His methods will differ from Spider-Man's in a big way and any villain that gets his way won't know what to expect. The new villain we have is a mysterious one that could have some potential but I find it a little difficult to care about him. There is a bit of a twist at the end that could determine the direction Kaine goes in and we'll have to wait and see what he chooses. If you've been worried this is just another Spider-Man comic, you will be pleasantly surprised to see just how different SCARLET SPIDER is. Read Full Review

  I can't wait to read more from this series and see more of Scarlet Spider. I think this is a series that is going to be a perfect under the radar series. I just hope it get the same success as some of the other under the radar series like Venom did. I say pick this issue and series up. I hope this series gets the success that it deserves in the end.   Brilliantly complementing the story is the art by Stegman who just goes to town in the action and his faces, the expressions, the layouts and the dynamic feel for the action really made this issue an utter and total joy to read.   Scarlet Spider #2 is widescreen action at it's finest. We've got web-slinging and fire all over the place and it is a sight to behold. If Stegman keeps this up he's going to be top dog in Marvel's stable, and rightfully so. Read Full Review

  This comic isn't particularly deep, but it doesn't have to be " it's breezy action with just a dash of wry humor to balance out the brooding of the main character. I won't lie, I enjoyed this much more than the first issue, and the added benefit is, you don't really need it to get into this one. Sophomore slump, prepare to get clobbered by the Scarlet Spider.   Although we get more narration into Kaine's past we sadly don't get another flashback of the original Scarlet Spider this time around. However, the two issues do a pretty good job reintroducing and establishing Kaine as a new hero in the Marvel Universe. Worth a look. Read Full Review
