Sure, it's fine. This arc isn't going to set the world on fire, but it's not bad. It has interesting characterizations, some mild action, and feels like a Logan story. Hopefully the next arc is a bit more adventurous. Read Full Review

All in all, the connection to one of my favorite comics and a couple interesting villains weren't enough to save this comic. It has been dropped. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Rick Lopez

Old Man Logan #38 is an entertaining yarn that squandered its potential. It presented a traditional Kingpin story when it could have done something more with the character. It tried to impress upon the reader how weak Logans healing factor was, but forgot that when to set up an action scene that could have been done a different way. The art was unremarkable for the most part, with some weak perspective and proportions and was rather sketchy in places. Its the weakest story of Brissons run so far. For readers who have been reading since it began, its not going to make them drop the book, but its not one that should be recommended as a good jumping on point. It works but it doesnt wow. Pretty standard conclusion. Nothing bad per se. The ONLY reason Bullseye lost was cuz it was OML's book so that felt a bit trope-y.

OML concludes his Fisk story by confronting the Big Cheese personally. It's a very basic wrap-up that sheds a lot of this arc's potential in order to bring it to an abrupt halt. Glitchy art further erodes the quality of the finished product, but it's not a trainwreck. While I disagree with Jon Comics's overall rating, I'm 100 percent on board with his view that this is OML patched into a Mark 1 Daredevil story. The creators passed up a lot of promise by refusing to acknowledge or play with that fact. I called the contents of the MacGuffin drive at the start of this arc. Choosing the most obvious reveal is just one more way the story runs short of steam here in the last chapter.

Though the conclusion is surprisingly ironic, this is the worst story arc of Ed Brisson run. This is a Daredevil comic, not a Wolverine one. The fact the whole story is built on Logan trying to decrypt a USB is ludicrous. Couldn't he have called anyone on the X Men Mansion to help? Ditto, would Logan travel with a citizen at risk on the subway needlessly endangeribg him and getting him shot on the head? Why not call Nightcrawler or Magik for teleportation? Logan acts so stupidly throughout this street level arc that it's just indigestible. Art is bad too. Avoid at all costs.
